2016 / 2017 Senior Reps

Well here it is everyone the new Rep season has officially started and yesterday we shot out of the gate with a bang!!  I decided on a little black dress theme and I think the girls really pulled it off!!  Because the kids were going to be all in black and because I always seem to go with a nature type of shoot I decided to bring a bit more of an urban vibe out in the pics.  We ended up in St. Louis at The Graffiti Wall and man was it a stunning location, the riot of color really set off the girls (Oh and Aimer) to perfection..  We all had so much fun and everyone is ready for the next shoot.

Rebranding and Rebuilding

Rebranding and Rebuilding

Hello everyone I know it has been a super long time since I have posted anything but hopefully those times are a changing LOL.  Over the summer I decided to try and reboost my brand especially for my senior side of the business.  I have updated my branding colors from a pastel color palete to a more vibrant hot pink and bronze concept that I think fits me and my seniors to a tee.  As you can tell by my blog redesign I have done some work over on this side of things as well as to create a new website.. haloandwingsphotography.com  I am pretty proud of it and would love to see as much traffic on the site as possible.

I think today I will post a compilation of shots from my various concept shoots and just begin again after the new Rep shoot that is coming up this Sunday.  So until then here are a few of my favorites from my decades shoots.  We managed to portray the 1920's, 1940's , 1950's and the 1960's and 70's.. Enjoy!

1920's

1940's (we are fudging it a bit with this decade)

1950's (yeah we went there a fun grease inspired theme)

1960's or 70's (however you want to think about it LOL)

Two month hiatus

Happy New Year!!!!  Its a new year and I vow to blog something every week.  I have some super exciting plans for 2015 and several of those are now in the works.  But since I have neglected this poor old blog for nearly two months I do have some catch up to be doing.

The first thing I want to catch everyone up on is what the last two months have consisted of photography wise so with out further ado here is the Ray Family:

Ed, Sherri, Tori, Tanner and Lucky are the Ray Family and since Tori works for me as a Rep they got the royal treatment yeah I know bologna... well it sounds good anyway LOL...   I had such a great time with The Ray's and it was a beautiful day in December and we all enjoyed soaking up the rare sun and warmth.  Here are their images enjoy.

It's supposed to be snowing!

Hello all!  I finished up my last weekend of shooting this past Sunday and I am anxious for a wee break from taking pictures.  That doesn't mean I am abandoning anyone but it does mean I am taking a break from the weather by staying inside lol.    I kept telling the girls that I would still be shooting but that we were supposed to get snow and it was going to be really cold, it didn't phase these girls at all.  Saturday the girls and I went into St. Louis to see what mischief we could get into and hopefully to take some epic images.  Sadly no mischief but we did get some epic shots.  We ended up taking advantage of Forest Park and its many nooks and crannies to take some beautiful images and we got to scout out the spectacular grounds of the Lemp Mansion and Brewery.  I hope you love these shots as much as I do.
Saturday.

Sunday...

Sunday we decided to explore the SIUe campus and we literally froze while doing it, well not literally but it sure felt like we were freezing at times lol.  What troopers these girls were they were game to keep going even when I was ready to throw in the towel.  You all have met Landri but I was privileged to take pictures of a few new girls this go around so I hope you will give them a little face book love.  Enjoy!

2015 - 2016 Reps

Good day to all my blog followers.  This past week has been a whirlwind of shoots, 10 in total and 7 of them on Saturday alone.  What a beautiful day to shoot, windy but sunny and warm.  The kids that were with me that day were all new to my Rep program and to my shooting style so we had to iron out a few hiccups but eventually we worked it all out and we ended up with some beautiful images.  Here they are I hope you enjoy them.  By the way we were at the gorgeous Pere Marquette State Park for our day of shooting.

The next day of shooting was on Sunday and I was supposed to have a bigger group of kids but the flu has reared its ugly head and 4 of them had to back out and wait for another day.  I hope they are feeling better today.  So instead of a crop of new Reps to introduce you too I had some oldies but goodies from last year.

I want to take this time to thank Midwest Air Wing for allowing us to shoot at their beautiful airport on Sunday.  As you can see it is a scenic area with some great buildings we were able to take advantage of.  Thanks again President John.

Red Riding Hood...

Hello all tonight was the night for the Red Riding Hood shoot.  I decided to do this shoot with some of my younger Reps so as to give them a little love and attention.  We had such a good time and the girls really seemed to enjoy themselves.  We took a risk and invaded Wilson Park here in Granite, the reason for the risk you ask... Well we had an ax as well as a cross bow and technically weapons are illegal in the park.  Big Risk?  Nah not really lol I got permission.  I hope you enjoy the pics because I sure do.  These are my favorites.  Enjoy!

Senior Pics and what to wear!

Hello everyone its a wet and rainy day outside so I thought it would be a great day to write an informative blog about what you should wear for your senior portraits.  So many times I see the seniors being confused about what to wear for their portraits and I have some very simple rules for this.  I found all of the photos on Pinterest
so if any of you want to look for outfits or how to style yourselves for your pics just check out pinterest for inspiration.

On to the Rules!!

1.  Be You!!  You don't want to look back and not see your personal style at the time of your senior portraits shining through.  You do however want to be you but in an elevated way.

2.  Variety Variety Variety!!   Mix it up make sure there are a variety of outfits that show who you are.

3.  Accessories are King!   Bring items that show off the outfit but also show off who you are.  Different accessories for different outfits can make your photo shoot more fun and the portraits to have variety and impact.

4.  Have Fun!  If you are nervous or worried it will show in your portraits.  Think about something you love that makes you happy and enjoy the experience.  Your High School senior portraits only come around once so make the most of it!!!

I hope that this helps with what you should wear for your senior portraits.  The only other advice I have is to be prepared, figure out what you want to wear and be ready for your session when your appointment time comes.  There is nothing worse then running around like a chicken without its head on the day of your photo shoot.
